Pregnancy Reflections

The Sixth Month

Buying maternity clothes was:
Fun! Although I didn't have to buy much this time around but I still got a few new things.

The biggest change in my body has been:
My pelvis! Holy cow, could this thing shift anymore?

My favorite change in my body has been:
My boobies of course! Who doesn't like instant implants lol.

What I never thought would change was:
Rayce's affection. He actually likes spending time and cuddling with me now. I hope it doesn't end...

At this month's prenatal visit I learned that:
Baby is fine! My glucose levels are not.

My hopes:
For a safe and non-eventful c-section.

My fears:
A colicky baby! Please God let her be good. ;)

2 Year Check-up

Rayce is going to Kid Power! Finally, after 1 year of tugging and pulling for speech therapy he has been referred. He will also have his hearing tested because I mentioned the fact that he "hums" a lot of his words. His pedi said it sounds like he is recognizing the pitch of a word but may not be hearing the whole thing. She said even if there's a slight variation it can make a difference. I also asked her if him staying home with me had anything to do with his delay in speech and she flat out said NO! She said people like to pin point it to that but, even with him staying home these are things he should be learning on his own, with or without social interaction. She also reassured me that speech delay is very common, she sees it more often then not. I'm so excited to get this ball rolling because Rayce should be close to saying sentences by now.

We also talked about autism and that has definitely been ruled out period. She said he's not even close to being a candidate.

Rayce weighed in at a whopping 30.5 pounds and is 36 inches tall. Big boy! I think he is down a couple of pounds from being sick but regardless he's still solid. He also got some vaccines today. We started his Hep A series, chicken pox, and influenza. He is all caught up on all his vaccines now except for his measles, mumps, and rubella. He probably won't have that until he is 4.

Overall, I am very pleased with his check-up. She said he is a very healthy kid but mommy needs a pair of roller skates to keep up with him. LOL, isn't that the truth!

So excited!

Everything you see pictured above I got for Rayna's room for under $20!! Her bedset, (bumper, sheet, dust ruffle) a hat, (for her to come home in) 3 rolls of border, and some wall stickers. All for about $18 and some change, SCORE! I'm so tickled I can hardly stand it.

I desperately needed to get out of the house yesterday so, I landed my self at Target. Like always, the first place I stopped was the baby section. I quickly found they were having a HUGE sale on baby items. I browsed for a minute and then, I spotted this cute bummper pad. I picked it up, saw the price tag of $4.98 I couldn't believe it! I thought my eyes were deceiving me lol. Sold! Then, I saw the rest of the stuff, I was just floored!

Then I started thinking, what am I going to do with the border I had got in the mail? I didn't match. So, I moseyed on over to Lowes next door to see what kind of border they had, thinking maybe they'd have one that matched. Once again I couldn't believe my eyes. Lowes had all their border on clearence for $1. Yep you read it right $1 per roll. Holy cow! So I quickly ruffled through all the borders and I found one! I found one that matched! I was having the best day ever.

It's a good thing we hadn't started working on her room yet. Rayce came down with the stomach bug so, her room efforts got put on hold over the weekend. I was bummed at first, but it looks like it all ended up working out for the better. But, once again I'm bummed. We probably won't get to work on her room next weekend either. Ray made plans. The following weekend is out of question as well. Ah well, maybe someday we will get around to it. Even if I have to do it all myself. :/

New Words

Sheesh, Rayce’s vocabulary has increased so much since I last posted about his new words. I knew if I didn’t keep up with posting about his new words I would forget all of them but, let me see if I can refresh my memory. He can now count to three, it is mostly when he’s about to jump off of something. Yes, my son likes to jump off of things. He has also started to indentify his colors. His favorite color is yellow and he says it so cute to. He now knows about half of the alphabet. He points to these letters, as well as says them: A C D E F H I L M N O Q S T Y The one that cracks me up the most is W. For some reason he calls it “L L”? He knows how to say double U, I’ve heard him say it, but yet he still continues to call it this. Crazy kid.

Some of his new favorite words are: cookie, shoe, see you, thank you, and buh bye. He is definitely starting to say more two-word phrases, which is right where he should be for his age. He goes to the doctor for his 2 year check-up on Tuesday so; we will see what she has to say about it all. I’m so excited to give her a good report. We’ll see how it goes.

Less than 100 days to go!

Ninety seven days to go to be exact. OMG, can you believe it is going this fast? I can’t. I’m feeling pretty darn good these days. I mean of course, with the exception of normal fatigue here and there but, other than that I’m doing well. My back and pelvis pain is basically gone. I’m not sure if it’s from my mini vacation we took or if it’s from those bomb ass pain meds my OB gave me. Whatever the cure was, I’ll take it!

In some ways I have found this pregnancy to be easier then my pregnancy with Rayce. I don’t know, with Rayce, it seemed like I always had something to complain about. Maybe all the hype just hasn’t hit with this pregnancy yet! (Knock on wood) So, for today, at least, I’m feeling great! I’m going to soak up the opportunity to work on Rayna’s room this weekend. Her changing table is almost put together and her wall paper border should be coming in the mail tomorrow. Yay, I’m so excited! Stay tuned for pictures.

6 Month Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday I had my routine monthly doctor’s appointment. Everything checked out just fine with the baby Rayna. I got to hear her little heart beating at 149 bpm. Blood pressure checked in great, weight checked in good also. I gained a pound, I’m a little bummed about that but it’s not too bad considering that’s all I have gained thus far. Then we went over the concerns I had about my ongoing pelvic pain and headaches. She referred me to a chiropractor for my pelvis but basically told me it was a normal part of being pregnant. I refuse to take that for an answer and I am determined to find some sort of relief. I’m going to start with putting a call into this chiropractor and see what she recommends and/or can do for me.

After we discussed that for a minute she informed me that I need to for a thorough glucose test because the blood work came back elevated. She usually sends me for a monthly hemoglobin A1C, which gives her a quantitative glucose level over the past month. When I was pregnant with Rayce my levels never went over 5.7, I was usually at the 5.6 mark and this time it came back at 6.0, for last month. Ugh, I’m so stressed out about this because I have already been watching what eat. I’m sure I can scale back a little more but at this point I’m not sure I want to. It’s hard when you’re pregnant, hungry all the time, and everything taste so yummy. I might just forgo a strict diet and go straight into insulin. I dunno we’ll see how the test results come back. I go in 2 weeks; I will make my decision then.

My next appointment is in 3 weeks then after that I start going every 2 weeks. Holy cow! How fast has this flown by? I can’t believe I’m almost in the third trimester. I’m super excited…I cannot wait to meet her!

Feeling the Aches and Pains

I think I have SPD otherwise known as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction or in none medical terms severe pelvic pain. Simply put, this significant pubic pain is caused by the pelvic girdle area not working they way it should, probably because of hormones, misalignment of the pelvis, or an interaction of the two. The pain has got so bad that I can no longer do normal daily things such as vacuum or even pick up Rayce without paying for it for the rest of the day. Just being on my feet for too long hurts. Rolling over in bed hurts. Walking from one end of the house to the other, hurts. You get the idea? Everything I do hurts! I honestly think my pelvis is out of alignment and it sucks. The only thing I have found to help, is to do absolutely nothing all day, which we all know with a toddler in tow is almost impossible. Sigh. It’s a good thing I go to the doctor today. Hopefully she can give me a referral to someone who can help. If not, I’m in for a long remaining 3 months. :/

Look who's 2!

No amount of gold could ever compare,
To the gift of love that my son shares.
I’ve been blind and I couldn’t see,
That all the love I’ve wanted is right in front of me.
He gives me reason to get through another day,
Maybe it’s how he loves me in his little special way.
He wraps his little arms around me and makes things right.
From sweet touches to his hugs and a gentle kiss…
He makes this hell on earth seem more like peaceful bliss.
That great kool-aid smile and the twinkle in his eyes…
Every time I look at him it makes me want to cry.
But they’re not tears of sorrow; they’re tears of pride and joy…
To know that all this love is wrapped in one little boy.

I can't believe you're already 2! Happy Birthday!!

Mommy loves you my sweet boy.

Who's ready for Spring?

We had a batch of nice weather last week and it got me thinking about spring time. I started thinking about how much I just love spring time around here. It gives me a sudden burst of energy from those nice sunny days; the air just smells so fresh. I got a lot done around the house last week, stuff that really needed to be done. Then, bam, we got snow again, dang it! It’s just something about those snowing, groggy days that just make you want to sit around the house, under a nice blanket, and not do a darn thing. Dang it, cold weather you interrupted my mojo. I had a list of things I still wanted to get done before the nice weather was over with. Oh well, at least I tackled some of it. More nice weather should be on its way next week; I sure hope so because I need to get Rayna’s room finished.

Rayce enjoyed the nice weather as well. He got some quality park time in with Cousin Richie. Here are some more pictures from their day at the park. They make a good team and had a blast together.

Pregnancy Reflections

The Fifth Month

The first time I felt you kick:
I have been feeling her kick for awhile now. The first time was probably a good month or so ago. I had the laptop rested on my lap and I swear she tried to kick it off! I literally saw it move up and down.

It felt like:
It is the neatest feeling in the world...words can't really describe it.

I felt:
Over-joyed! It's one of those moments you can't get enough of.

The strangest food craving I've had is:

Crumbs from Long Jonh's Silvers. You know, those left over batter pieces that fall off their fish and chicken planks. OMG so yummy, I can't get enough. Bless Rays heart he has gone for a 9 o'clock run for me several times.

This month's prenatal visit taught me that:
IT'S A GIRL! OMG, we are so excited.

My hopes:
I just want a healthy baby with ten fingers and ten toes.

My fears:
I'm still worried about trying to do this with a toddler. His terrible 2's are getting worse, ack!!
